Alphington Landscape Design Project
Project Brief
For this Alphington landscape design project, the client brief was to landscape the entire property after a major home rebuild, to add some lush green layers and hard surfaces to the quality of their new build. This involved working with the client’s landscape architect, and home builder.
The client also needed us to complete the initial excavation stage prior to the builder completing major works to the house, as access to the rear of the property would be cut off by the completion of the build.

The work we did on this Alphington landscape design
Once the planning was complete, the first step was to bring in our excavation equipment for a site clean-up and raise the level of the rear yard by 300mm, to integrate with the finished floor level of the new build. It was really important to get as much of the groundworks completed prior to access being limited as it helped control costs and move the job along efficiently.
- Once all new blended soil had been loaded into the backyard, we were able to start shaping the rear landscape.
- Steel reinforced concrete footing for the curved brick seat was excavated and poured.
- At this stage, most of the major groundworks had been completed and preparations for decking stump holes, post holes for screens commenced.
- Driveway and side of house concrete preparations and drainage were completed.
- Preparation for all blue line irrigation plumbing for a fully automated 9 station watering system. Conduits placed under paving slabs for garden lighting were expertly installed.
- Poured exposed aggregate concrete in the front yard and drive-way, as well as along the sides of the house – Surf mist
- Built a new silvertop ash timber decking, with a Cutex oil finish.
- Installed custom steel mesh screens along the side of the house for improved privacy – powder coated.
- Here we used natural stone paving stepping stones for the front and rear garden paths.
- Planting, lawns, irrigation, garden lighting and the mulch to finish off.
The Result
This project was built on time and on budget, which made our client very happy.
Our client loves the new outdoor space and quality of the finishes. They were very happy with how we executed and delivered the work, working seamlessly with their other trades and architect to bring the whole project together.
As with many well-planned renovations we do, there was a significant increase in property valuation after renovation was complete.
